The juice is fresh, but the team behind it? Even fresher.

Introducing Pick of the Bunch, where we spotlight the people who make Picky...well, Picky.

From juice & smoothie obsessives to perfectionist planners, this crew lives and breathes bold flavors, bright ideas, and the relentless pursuit of liquid greatness.

Stay tuned as we peel back the curtain (and maybe an orange or two) to share their stories, quirks, and what keeps them squeezing every drop of passion into Picky.

Obsessed? Us too.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your role?

I’m Craig, the Engineering Coordinator at Apollo Foods, my role consists of roughly 50% of the time on the tools keeping the juice flowing and the rest planning for maintenance and overhauls.

Tell us about your connection to the Hawke’s Bay region. What makes this place special to you?

My wife grew up in HB, we moved here 10 years ago to raise our daughter here. We love the region, so much to do and very accessible.

When you think of Hawke’s Bay, what local ingredients or foods come to mind?

I like to support locally made, whether it’s having chicken wings while sipping on a Tigermilk at Brave, or a wood fired pizza and glass of Chardonnay at Shed 530 Estate.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Up at 5am, at work at 6am for my first meeting with the coffee machine. Work, which changes every day due to the nature of the FMCG business, then pick my daughter up from school and run her around any after school activities.

What’s one thing you love about living or working in Hawke’s Bay?

The climate, love the long sunny days or the crisp Autumn mornings. And the people here.

Quick-fire questions.

Pick three words to describe yourself when you were 13.  Earring, baggy jeans, gross

What’s the most normal thing you can think of? It is physically impossible to lick your own elbow.

What’s the book about your life called? Adulting is soup, and I am a fork.

Who’s your ideal celebrity three-legged-race teammate? Greg Davies (taskmaster) wouldn’t be a fast run, but the verbal abuse would be rather funny.
